Nolan Kreipe CopySPRINGFIELD—State Senator Andy Manar (D–Bunker Hill) welcomed Nolan Kreipe to the Illinois Senate on Tuesday.

Nolan is a senior at Carlinville High School, and he spent the day with Manar as part of the Senate’s page-for-a-day program.

Announcing resultsBUNKER HILL- Bunker Hill third graders got a taste of the democratic process Thursday.

State Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) and Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan visited Dawn Gockel’s third-grade class at Wolf Ridge Elementary School in Bunker HIll.

They spoke to the students about voting and held a mock election. Students were able to vote for U.S. president and best baseball team.

Duncan also brought a county voting machine and demonstrated how it works.

BrammerSPRINGFIELD – Bill Brammer walked into the Union Baptist Church on Wednesday morning empty handed, but he walked out with answers, helpful information and a new veteran’s driver’s license.

“I try to go to any event for veterans. Today was very helpful,” Brammer said.

Brammer, a Korean War veteran, was able to get a driver’s license with the newly created veteran designation. The veteran designation ensures former service members receive services and benefits without needing to carrying additional cards or paperwork.

Kovats Teutken Benld rBENLD – Dorita Tuetken walked into the Benld Civic Center on Wednesday morning empty handed, but she walked out with answers, helpful information and some extra money owed to her by the state.

“This was wonderful. I came in for the cholesterol check since I haven’t had one in while, and I did a skin cancer screening they had too,” Tuetken said.

Teutken also found out she had more than $100 of unclaimed assets with the state by checking with the Illinois Treasurer’s I-Cash program.
