WORDEN – Worden city officials recently discovered that 11 fire hydrants in various locations around the city were damaged and needed to be either repaired or replaced. Looking for possible solutions Worden Mayor Preston Hall acted quickly by bringing the problem to the attention of State Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill).
“After we identified the problem I sought the advice of Senator Manar,” Mayor Hall said. “He was very responsive to our request for assistance and quickly worked with the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to identify an infrastructure grant so we could get repairs underway.”
The replacement project is currently in-progress, utilizing a $25,000 infrastructure grant awarded by DCEO. The repair and replacement project is expected to be completed by early spring.
“I’m glad this instance could result in a positive outcome,” said Senator Manar. “I want to emphasize the Mayor’s leadership in pro-actively identifying the problem and working with both state and local officials to find a solution.”
