SPRINGFIELD – Volunteers, community leaders, staff and members of Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Illinois celebrated the completion of two years of renovations to the organization’s Springfield facilities.
The updated facility features a new computer lab, improved game, art and music rooms as well as an overhauled gym.
“There’s nothing more important than protecting our kiddos and putting them on the road to success. The choice is simple: we either build our kids, or we build more jails. It’s time to stop building jails, and start building children of capability and character,” Boys and Girls Clubs Executive Director Bill Legge said.
State Senator Andy Manar toured the facility and spoke at the group’s recognition breakfast Tuesday.
“This facility, its dedicated volunteers and staff show what is possibly when we place the highest value on every single child. The Boys and Girls Clubs have an untold positive impact on the futures of the children they serve,” Manar said.
“Our newly renovated facility offers a world-class Boys and Girls Club for our members to grow and flourish, and we’re grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received from the community who are dedicated to our young members.” Legge said.
